Classroom Environment & Curriculum

The primary classrooms focus on developing the building blocks for learning: Concentration, independence, order, and self-confidence.

Children in this age group have an extraordinary capacity to absorb information from their surroundings. The Montessori environment is designed to support children’s affinity for learning at their own periods of interest and readiness.

“Follow the child” is a phrase heard frequently. Primary lessons are taught to individual children or small groups when the children show an interest or teacher observation indicates they are ready for a new skill or concept. Primary classrooms are divided into the following areas: practical life, sensorial, language, math, geometry, cultural studies, art, music and Spanish. In addition, lessons are designed to develop social and motor skills and good work habits.

Primary Schedule Options

Our Primary community attends 5 days a week, with options for:

  • Half Day – 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • School Day – 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Full Day – 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please note, Kindergarten students MUSTattend for a school day schedule.
Schedule options are subject to availability.
Families who need an earlier start may take advantage of  Early Morning Care, offered from 7:30 a.m.
