On April 18th, in celebration of Earth Day, the Adolescent Community at the Montessori School of Huntsville (MSH) will be hosting our annual Spring Plant Sale! This student-led event raises funds to support our class garden and our rain garden and also provides resources for stewardship projects, field trips, and year-round classroom activities.

The Plant Sale is part of our “microeconomy”; from planning the sale and growing inventory to securing donations and coordinating day-of logistics, students take the lead in this hands-on learning experience and gain practical, real-world skills in managing a small business while generating funds for their projects. As a new addition to our sale this year, we are expanding our reach to online sales and a “blossoming” inventory.

We are hoping to get our entire school involved in a fundraising campaign leading up to our fundraising event and to offer a greater selection of choices during the sale. Your participation in this fundraiser not only supports local students and their environmental stewardship but also helps them build essential life skills in preparation for economic independence.

The Montessori School of Huntsville (MSH) is an independent, nonprofit school that provides a loving learning environment for toddlers , preschoolers , elementary, and adolescent children through the eighth grade. Campuses are located in South Huntsville (18 mo. through 8th grade) and Hampton Cove (18 mo. through kindergarten).

At MSH, learning is an exciting process of discovery that helps children develop concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and independence.

What is the CHOOSE Act?

The Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students’ Education Act of 2024 (The CHOOSE Act) is administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR).

CHOOSE Act Alabama makes refundable income tax credits called education savings accounts (ESAs) available to support the success of eligible K-12 students in Alabama.

$7,000 per participating student who is enrolled in a participating school.

The application period is now open through April 7, 2025 (Alabama Department of Public Revenue, 2025).
