The Admissions Cycle for the 2025-2026 School Year is Now Open

Toddler I April Blogpost

The second half of the school year is quickly coming to an end.  All that the children in our class have learned since the first day of school is now more evident than ever.  Morning drop-offs are easier than they were during those first few months, our work cycle has expanded to mirror that of a primary work cycle on most days, the children have achieved a great level of independence in making their own snack and preparing their own lunch with minimal assistance, and they are taking care of their own toileting needs with minimal assistance, as well.

Every day  spent in our class is a true testament to what these young children are capable of.  We hope you are able to see the growth in the pictures we share with you as much as we can see it in our first person experiences in the classroom.
As they grow they are moving closer to the start of their 3-year primary cycle in the 3-6 year-old classroom.  One of the biggest changes between our toddler classroom environment and the primary classroom environment is the morning drop-off time.  The primary children move toward independence from the moment they step into the classroom by immediately finding work, helping to prepare the classroom for the new day, and melding into the already working classroom seamlessly.  Over these last few weeks of the school year it is important that we move in this direction, as well.  We will be weaning the children from having their parents remain in the classroom once they have entered to being greeted by the teacher and engaging in an individual activity, group activity, or activity with the teacher to prepare the classroom for the new day ahead.
Our children delight in the start of a new day, and making that start as smooth as possible is the key to preparing them for their primary years.
